It was more or less in 1954 that two foreign painters first set foot in the village of Ubud, namely Rudolf Bonet from the Netherlands and Walter Spies from Germany, followed by Antonio Blanco. Due to the struggle and cooperation of Tjokorda Sukawati from Puri Saren Ubud, from there Ubud gradually became a tourist destination, especially in the arts and culture. At that time, lighting at night, especially on highways and in hotels where guests stay, still uses flashlights or kerosene. However, foreign tourists still come to the Ubud area and not a few of them choose to live and settle in Ubud. In 1979, Nick’s Pension was founded, which was founded by Mr. Mangku I Wayan Nik Suyasa, and it was from his name that the name Nick’s Pension came from. Due to limited funds, he began to make two rooms, and on 24 April 1980 Nick’s Pension officially operated. At that time in the Ubud area there was no electric lighting and the only way to get to Nick’s Pension was the footpath from Jalan Wenara Wana. At that time Jalan Wenara Wana was still a dirt road and there was no asphalt where for bathing for guest rooms was still obtained in the traditional way, namely by drawing water from the river and taking it to the guest bathroom because Nick’s Pension was located near the river. And at that time the room lighting was still using a flashlight. With foreign guests staying at Nick’s Pension as well as increasing funds and also with incoming electricity, Nick’s Pension began to add one room every year. With advances in technology, the facilities at Nick’s Pension hotel are getting more and more modern, namely Ceiling fans, hot and cold showers, and bamboo beds, and mattresses made of sponge. In 1989 the number of rooms at Nick’s Pension reached 24 rooms. In 1995, to support the hotel facilities, a restaurant and swimming pool and also now all our room with air conditioning and our furniture now are from teak wood .We are established on Jalan Bisma for our main entrance.

The location of this hotel is located on the river bank, west of Astina Ubud field and only 200 meters from Ubud town.
